Possessing a voice of unusual size, beauty, and timbre, Romanian-American mezzo-soprano Andreia Lucaciu is a performer of deep musicality and expression. Equally comfortable in lyric and dramatic repertoire from the Baroque to the Contemporary, her technique, artistry, and presence embody all she sings. Her work has been praised by conductors and stage directors here and abroad.Following her Bachelor’s Degree from the National University of Music Bucharest, she took performances tours to China, Japan and Europe. She was full-time soloist with the Bucharest Philharmonic Choir at the Romanian Athenaeum and has recorded with the Bucharest Baroque Orchestra. Operatic roles have included Cherubino and Marcellina in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, Larina and Filippyevna in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, Bianca in Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia and Polinesso in Handel’s Ariodante, among others.Andreia holds first prizes in many competitions: the New York Classical Music Competition, the North American Virtuoso International Music Competition, the Charleston International Music Competition, and the Victory International Competition, plus the Fourth Prize in the London International Music Competition. She won prizes from the Romanian National Voice Competitions “Mihail Jora” in Bucharest and “Martian Negrea” in Ploiesti, and the Sacred Music International Voice Competition in Rome. Three prestigious awards and scholarships were bestowed upon her from Temple University in Philadelphia, where she recently completed her Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance. Master Classes with esteemed personalities such as Warren Jones, Dean Anthony, Christian Badea and Viorica Cortez have polished her training.Recent concerts and recitals have been presented at Romanian cultural institutions in New York and Philadelphia, the Norwegian Embassy, the Abington Symphony Orchestra, the Temple Symphony Orchestra, the Temple Opera Theatre, the Opera Project of New Jersey, and Andrea Clearfield’s Salon Series.
